

Hailed by The City Sentinel as "spectacular," Shannon Rookey is a soprano known for her rich and resonant voice, refined musicality, and dramatic commitment. The Arkansas Democrat Gazette has called her "[a] fine voice with considerable experience and stage presence." The Arkansas Times has called her "winsome,... fun to watch, and comfortable bouncing around notes above the staff." Most recently, her performance as Ruth Bader Ginsburg was hailed as having "assayed challenging arias" and doing "justice" to the American icon.
She has performed with organizations such as Opera in the Rock, Opera Fort Collins, Canterbury Choral Society, and Praeclara. Ms. Rookey is equally comfortable in opera, musical theater, and oratorio. Her favorite roles include Ruth Bader Ginsburg in Scalia/Ginsburg, Della in The Gift of the Magi, Laetitia in The Old Maid and the Thief, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Valencienne in The Merry Widow, and Lily st. Regis in Annie. Currently, she is based in Little Rock, AR.
Ms. Rookey received a BM in Vocal Performance from Oklahoma City University and an MM in Vocal Performance from Colorado State University. Her past teachers include Martile Rowland, Christine Donahue, and Dr. Tiffany Blake.
